Together with Michelle Yeoh, Ambassador of the Road Safety Commission and testimonial of the FIA “Make Roads Safe” campaign and some eminent personalities of the Brazilian Government, Luis Alberto Moreno – President of the IDB – and Jean Todt – President of the FIA – illustrated the motivations that led to this collaboration, aimed at promoting road safety in Brazil also in view of prestigious events such as the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games. Preceded by Emerson Fittipaldi, Formula 1 champion in the 70s , Massa spoke about the importance of safe driving and launched an appeal to those who, by paying more attention to the rules of the road, can do something to prevent accidents. “My country, like many others, needs an important road safety education campaign. I am a pilot and a father and I know well what the dangers caused by carelessness can be” declared Felipe during his speech. “The safety measures adopted in Formula 1 have made this sport much safer, and the same can and must be done on the roads.”

At the end of the meeting the Ferrari driver briefly addressed the current events of Formula 1 with the local press. “At the moment my concentration is completely focused on preparing for the next races. Thanks to great team work, performances have improved significantly and I always feel very motivated to do well" were Massa's words in response to questions about his contractual future. “We talk about it but we are in no hurry to decide or communicate anything, the important thing for me is to fight for the podium, even if my partner is ahead in the standings. For me the priority is always to try to finish in the top three, but if Fernando is in front in a race, given his position, I will still try to help him."
