Ferrari, sensational return of Raikkonen?

According to the German newspaper Bild, Ferrari is considering the sensational return to Maranello of Kimi Raikkonen, already in the running for reconfirmation in Lotus and for the second seat in Red Bull for 2014.

Raikkonen, who drove for Prancing Horse from 2007 to 2009, left Ferrari a year early and was replaced by Fernando Alonso for 2010.

The Spaniard, although he is tied to the red team by a contract until the end of 2016, could move to Red Bull next year while Felipe Massa's contract expires at the end of the season.

According to the German newspaper, Ferrari made the Finn an offer higher than that of Red Bull. The Austrian team's offer would be $15 million with performance-based bonuses and a sponsorship for the Finn's motocross team.

The rumor of Raikkonen's return would confirm the no longer idyllic relations between Alonso and Ferrari after the president of the Cavallino, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, pulled the Spaniard's ear after his comments in Hungary. But a spokesperson denied any internal problems within the team: "The president is 100% with Alonso" explained a press officer to the Spanish newspaper AS. “Montezemolo is the first to support our drivers' invitation to improve the competitiveness of the car as soon as possible”.
