Ferrari, Arrivabene on the problems of the SF16-H: "Took risks to catch up with Mercedes"

In an interview given to the microphones of Sky Sports F1 HD, Maurizio Arrivabene commented on the latest innovations that Scuderia Ferrari has brought to the Sochi track, underlining how the entire team is working at its maximum effort to close the performance gap with the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

The Red Team Principal explained that during the design phase of the SF16-H, risks were taken, knowing full well that in 90% of cases reliability and performance cannot always go hand in hand. It was precisely for this choice that he assumed maximum responsibility, specifying how hard work is being done in Maranello to resolve these small problems that are slowing down Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel as quickly as possible.

“We don't have a specific area to improve”, explained the Red Team Principal, focusing his attention not only on the power unit, but also on the aerodynamic developments. “The power unit is certainly an important component of our single-seater, but being Ferrari we have the obligation to improve and work on the entire package that we make available to our drivers. During the winter, risks were taken precisely because I believe it is important to give your best to win."

He subsequently placed a magnifying glass on these risks, underlining how he takes full responsibility for the problems caused by the SF16-H. “I take full responsibility for this, but I can confidently say that we have not given up and that we will do our utmost to hook up to the reference car at the moment. They are ahead, but we are Ferrari and we are working to get to their level."
