Fernley: “Penalized by Pirelli change mid-season”

According to the deputy team principal Force India Bob Fernley the team had to say goodbye to the hope of obtaining fifth place among the constructors when Pirelli decided to change the tyres.

“We had a great chance to finish the championship ahead of Mclaren until Silverstone – he told Autosport – At that moment we were ahead and our performances were excellent. The problem is that by now we had introduced the 2014 car into the wind tunnel and the 2013 model was no longer available, so we had to work with what we had available. In any case, we achieved the initial objective of sixth position thanks also to the results obtained in India and Abu Dhabi where we chose to adopt a risky and aggressive strategy which paid off in the end."
