Fernando Alonso delivers 100 scholarships in Valencia

Together with José Antonio Villasante, general director of the Banco Santander Global Universidades division, today Fernando Alonso awarded one hundred Formula Santander scholarships to as many students selected from two thousand candidates, which will allow them to complete their studies at one of the almost thousand universities and centers research centers around the world with which Banco Santander is working through a dedicated division.

Conceived sixteen years ago, the program presented by the President of Banco Santander Emilio Botin in Shanghai, on the occasion of the Chinese Grand Prix on 14 April, provides three hundred scholarships equally divided between English, Brazilian and Spanish students and represents the backbone of the the bank's social action, helping to maintain a stable alliance with American, Asian and European universities. The students awarded in the Valencia paddock, where the Spanish driver is engaged in the eighth round of the Formula 1 World Championship at the wheel of one of the two 150° Italias fielded by Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, received a scholarship worth five thousand euros in addition to tickets to watch the race scheduled for Sunday. José Antonio Villasante gave Alonso a book signed by all the students which tells the history of the university and its contribution to progress in the world over the last four hundred years. Present at the event were the rectors of some of the main Spanish universities.
