Felipe Massa: “My future will depend on this year's results”

Felipe Massa's future passes through the present. At the end of 2012 the contract that binds the Brazilian driver to Scuderia Ferrari will expire but the consequent pressure that this expiration entails does not seem to affect Felipe's renewed confidence.

“I know well that the first part of the season will be in a certain sense more important than the second” – he said – “When we are halfway through the championship we will talk about my future to see if there will be the possibility of continuing to work with Ferrari. The most important thing is the results: if they arrive, making choices for the future will be much easier and it would make no sense to change a situation that we would all be happy with."

“I want to read in the newspapers that Felipe is back fighting for the top and, to do that, we need everything to be in place: if we have a good car then I know I can fight for the title, as I have already done previously” – continued the driver from Sao Paulo – “Nothing has changed since 2008: after my accident I'm still the same. Of course, it weighs on me not to have won for a long time and I strongly want to return to success: however, I remain calm because I know what my abilities are and I am 100% prepared to handle the pressure that has always been part of my job."

Felipe said he was happy with the new arrivals, especially that of former Bridgestone Motorsport Technical Director Hirohide Hamashima: “He is a highly experienced engineer and being able to count on him is very positive in terms of knowledge of how the tires work. Pat Fry is working very well: he is also very experienced and very good at reorganizing the team.”
