F2 | Russell moves up the category: from GP3 to Formula 2, again with ART
The 19-year-old Briton will share the garage with Jack Aitken
George Russell in 2018 he will race in formula 2 with the team ART Grand Prix. After winning the GP3 championship, again with the French team, and taking part in some free practice sessions with the Force India during the last Formula 1 World Championship, the 19-year-old Briton, who grew up in Mercedes, will thus be able to perform on a more ambitious stage. He will share the box with Jack aitken, Renault school driver.
These are the words released by Russell upon the announcement of his promotion: “I am very happy to be able to race in Formula 2 again with the ART Grand Prix team. We have had a very positive year together and so it makes sense to continue working together in pursuit of new successes. With the introduction of a new Formula 2 car, it will be challenging for all teams to optimize the set-up at the start of the season, but I have full confidence in ART Grand Prix to be competitive in the shortest possible time. I can't wait to take part in the first race and to fight against some of the best teams and junior motorsports”.
