Mercedes has decided to completely change the livery for the 2020 season, opting for the black color to support the fight against “racism and discrimination in all its forms”, as Mercedes declared in a message on social media to present the new color.

Recently, Lewis Hamilton, committed primarily to defending equality rights, had asked Formula 1 to do more and the best response came from his team which completely changed the livery of the Silver Arrows.

The team principal and CEO of Mercedes, Toto Wolff, commented on the presentation of the car via the team's official website total black livery:

“Racism and discrimination have no place in our society, our sport and our team – this is a fundamental belief at Mercedes. But having the right beliefs and the right mindset is not enough if we remain silent. We want to use our voice and our global platform to talk about respect and equality and the Silver Arrows, will compete in black for the entire 2020 season, to show our commitment to greater diversity within our team and the our sport. We will not stand aside from the weakness in this area, nor from the progress we still need to make; our livery is our public commitment to take positive action. We intend to find and attract the best talent from the widest range of backgrounds possible and create credible pathways to our sport, in order to build a stronger and more diverse team in the future.".
