F1| Wolff: “Vettel in Mercedes? He plays well”

According to the Austrian team manager, the driver of the Ferrari he would be an excellent piece to deploy on the grid; the statement comes after various insistent rumors that German should be switched to Mercedes in 2018.This would mean that the team that won the constructors' title is already thinking about the future as, Walter Bottas, was signed only for 2017 following the withdrawal from competitions of Nico Rosberg. Although the non-executive president Niki Lauda wanted to clarify once and for all that it is not in the German team's plans to have Seb for next season, he is not of the same opinion Toto wolff:

“2018 presents us with many alternatives that can be interesting”, the Mercedes team manager declared to a German newspaper, “but at the moment we don't want to waste time, but rather concentrate on ensuring that Bottas can get to the top”.

Regarding the possibility of lining up Vettel alongside Lewis Hamilton, Wolff stated that although he has a deep friendship with the Ferrari driver, it is very difficult as Seb has a deep respect for his current team.

“When Nico retired, he showed no interest in replacing him; at the moment he is only focused on working with Ferrari. We'll see what the future holds but it would be foolish not to have him on the list.".

Although, when asked what he would think of a title like "A four-time German champion will drive a Mercedes", Toto could only answer: "Sounds good!".
