F1 | Wolff thunders: “Someone is playing with tire pressures”

The controversy over the tire issue continues in the Le Castellet paddock. After Mario Isola's clarifications gathered yesterday, it is now Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal, who unbuttons himself a bit to Mara Sangiorgio's microphones on Sky Sports. The leader of the world champions' wall was in the Pirelli hospitality area, together with Stefano Domenicali, to have a chat with Isola. The Austrian didn't say too much, and when pressed by the journalist of the satellite broadcaster he also gave some indications regarding the pilots market.

“It's a situation where we have a product that works – Toto began. We are satisfied with Pirelli's work, but it is important that the teams also know how to use the tyres, and there are teams who play a bit, so we need to make sure they don't do it again. This type of controversy is a problem for Formula 1, some try to experiment, but it has nothing to do with the whole context. We need to be decisive with the teams to ensure they remain regular."

On the chassis of Hamilton and Bottas: “This year we only have four, so we make these changes. If we see any problem today, we replace it, we have two more new ones. Market? I won't decide in December, I was joking, it's too late, but not even at Silverstone, it's too early! Maybe for Monza you will know something more, for yourselves too, so you will have a good story to tell."

Sangiorgio then presses on, asking if the market will concern Hamilton or Bottas: “I don't know.. You're playing with me (Laughs)".
