F1 | Wolff fears Ferrari: "We don't expect to dominate in the next races"

Mercedes' team principal said the engine advantage shown by Ferrari in recent grands prix was "unusual". After a first part of the season dominated by the Silver Arrows, the Maranello team recovered after the summer break, with Charles Leclerc's two victories at Spa and Monza and Sebastian Vettel's triumph in Singapore.

“With stable regulations, it is unusual to see these discrepancies.”

Wolff added that with Formula 1 now a motorsport discipline, Ferrari's power advantage is a big problem for its competitors.

“At the moment Ferrari destroys everyone on the straight, it is very difficult to make up this deficit on the rest of the circuit. It's a situation we have to overcome."

To do this, a lot of work is needed: “We have to analyze every aspect of the engine. Are there any innovations we missed? I think that's definitely why."

“There is a gap that is almost impossible to make up at the moment, so we need to make sure we put a great chassis on the track, understand the tires and choose the right race strategy. It is in these areas that our opportunities lie.”

Regarding the last five races, Wolff has no illusions:

“Given the performance of their engine, we don't expect to dominate in the next races.”
