F1 | Wolff on Ferrari's success: "They started developing the car long before us"

La Ferrari began working on the 2017 project long before Mercedes. And this is probably why it started off so strong, already obtaining 3 victories on 6 circuits, jumping to the top of the drivers' standings in Hag and the builders one. This is what was stated by Toto Wolff, head of Mercedes: “As far as we know, Ferrari started developing its car very early – in December 2015. For us, however, it was only March 2016,” he told the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.

“Since then, Ferrari has already had more than 50% of its resources on the new car. The Scuderia has perhaps a 16-week advantage over us, and this is probably the motivation behind its four or five tenths,” continued the team principal.
