F1 | Wolff on the 2021 regulations: “The engine must remain a fundamental part”

In an interview with the Kleine Zeitung newspaper, Toto Wolff spoke about the future 2021 regulation, aligning himself with Sergio Marchionne for that matter the role of the engine in future Formula 1. According to the Austrian, in fact, builders need to simplify their units, while maintaining a distinctive feature of its technology. Formula 1 is innovation, technological development applied to racing cars, which is why it is not possible to intervene on the very DNA of the category. The result would be a complete loss of credibility towards enthusiasts.

Here are the words of Toto Wolff: "The argument is quite clear and starts from the fact that Formula One is high technology applied to racing. As a team we must commit to this and we cannot lose our credibility. The engine must continue to be a fundamental part and it must not deviate from the concept we have today. Maybe we can make it simpler, but there is no need to revolutionize everything after three years of development. It would just be a waste of money."
