F1 | Wolff: “I would be happy to see Kubica return”

The boss of Mercedes, regarding the possible return of the Polish driver to the Formula 1 world championship, expressed his opinion.

Kubica was involved in a bad rally accident in 2011 in which he suffered serious injuries to his hand and arm. At the time, the doctors' ruling was unshakable: Robert would no longer be able to take part in competitions.

However, the former pilot BMW, Clean e Renault, has never lost hope and after some participation in motorsport events, this year he has already done two private tests aboard a 2012 Renault, with satisfactory results.

“I hear he's doing very well - commented Toto wolff - I think he found a way to ride, despite the hand injury. I would really be happy to see him again in the world championship, he deserves it. He's one of those talents who failed to prove his worth, he had won a race and was on his way, then there was that terrible accident”.

According to some rumours, Kubica could soon return to driving a Formula 1 during free practice Hungarian GP or in the tests the following week, always aboard a Renault:

“He's fit and has a good spirit. I've known him since 2002 and we met recently during the Mille Miglia and talked a bit. It was nice to see him again.".
