The dig from the Mercedes team principal: "I live in his head without paying rent"

F1 | Wolff: “Horner is obsessed with me”

Before 2021, the relationships between the team principals of Red Bull e Mercedes, Christian Horner and Toto Wolff were quite friendly. But after the controversial finale of the 2021 season in Abu Dhabi, with Max Verstappen's world title victory, relations have deteriorated to the point that the two do not spare each other barbs in media interviews.

Just this week, Wolff gave an interview to the Times, in which he didn't say very nice words towards the Red Bull team principal:

“I live in his head without paying rent, that guy is obsessed. Every second I spend talking about Horner is a waste of time in my life."

For the Austrian, this is the tenth year in charge of Mercedes and he admitted that the defeat to Hamilton in 2021 was his team's most difficult moment.

“We were together for many years and we speak often (with Hamilton, ed.). That period was incredibly difficult, because he had given everything and was on the verge of a great result. One of the hardest things in sport is processing disappointment. That's when the team is at its best."

But despite the enormous frustration generated by the events that unfolded at Yas Marina in 2021, Wolff's heart remains firmly rooted in F1. However, the greatest joys in his life are found away from the track.

“I have great moments in F1. I love the team, I love the challenge. But what I really love is my family: I have three children who are 21, 18 and 5 years old. Having family together is what gives me the most enjoyment and in my wife I have found the perfect partner. She can drive cars faster than me, we are total soul mates”.
