F1 | Williams, Stroll: “With a one-stop strategy, maybe I could have gotten to the points”

After a terrible qualifying, Williams managed to get back on track in Mexico, finishing the Grand Prix not too far from the points zone: 12th Lance Stroll, 13th Sergey Sirotkin.

STROLL LANCES
Starting box: 17th
Final placement: 12th (+2 laps)
“It's a shame we couldn't score points. Maybe with just one pit stop like Sergey (Sirotkin, ed.) we could have done it. The ultrasoft in the first stint wore out very quickly, so we had to switch to a two-stop strategy. Then for many laps we raced on the supersofts, and so we were just managing.".

SERGEY SIROTKIN
Starting box: 19th
Final placement: 13th (+2 laps)
“Excellent team work. The way we handled the final stint doing 58 laps on the hard tires was absolutely fantastic. With ten laps to go my tires were still better than the cars around me. I had much more pace than the cars in front of me. I was alongside Kevin (Magnussen, ed.) but the Virtual Safety Car completely ruined my pace, cooling the tires and resetting things. During the restart I struggled to warm up my hard tires and it took me three laps to get them back into the right window. I made a tough move on Kevin and had four laps to catch the cars in front. In the last laps I managed to catch up, but the race was over. We did a great job managing the stint, but I'm disappointed I couldn't be more aggressive towards the end of the race. Overall, mixed feelings.".
