F1 | Williams, Stroll: “What a disappointment, both cars out in Q1: really difficult weekend”

“I think we could have hoped for more. The first ride I did was really good. I don't think we could have done more there. The lap with the second set of tires was heavily influenced by a very messy situation, because I was fighting with three or four cars for position. I started the lap behind a Sauber and I knew the tires and brakes weren't there. I almost managed to beat my previous lap time, which shows that we could potentially have improved by another three or four tenths, but I don't know if this would have been enough to qualify. I think that, compared to Melbourne, we have actually done a better job: in some terms we have maximized the performance of the car. We are moving forward in one direction, but we are missing something. However, I am happy because we are not making the same mistakes as Melbourne. It hasn't been seen in the results, but the way we are working has certainly improved and personally I'm happy with this".

“It's been a really difficult weekend so far. It was disappointing for the team with both cars out in Q1, not ideal. Many things are wrong. The balance isn't there, the grip isn't high enough: we need more speed. Last year in qualifying my lap was four tenths better than today. In the race I hope to be able to move forward, but to date we don't have the package to compete where we want".
