The Grove team found the only consolation in the gaps, which had narrowed compared to the qualifying of the last Bahrain GP: Orphan, 16th, e Stroll, 18th, in fact they were eliminated respectively for only +0.049 and +0.272. “We were very close to Q2 and have improved since Bahrain. I think we did a good job over the weekend. We were tenth this morning (in FP3, ed.), which is remarkable considering our current state of form. The first lap in Q1 was also really satisfying. I think we didn't maximize the second lap, we could have done better there. Maybe not as much as the others, because I think our first attempt was better than most of them, but I still think we could have achieved something more that could have allowed us to get into Q2. I'm sorry about this, but anyway we are moving forward step by step."

“It was difficult with both cars out in Q1. To be honest, I'm not happy with the Q1 result. We were really struggling all weekend and yesterday, having spun, I didn't get a base. We tried many different setups in FP1 due to the difficulties encountered in Bahrain. I didn't actually put it all together in qualifying, but I'm really happy that I got a little closer. It wasn't as good as Australia, but maybe a little better than Bahrain. In any case, tomorrow is another day and anything is possible."
