F1 | Williams: Simon Roberts will miss the Turkish GP after testing positive for COVID-19

A few days before the start of the race weekend on the Turkish Istanbul Park track, Williams and Formula 1 announced the positive outcome of the Acting Team Principal of the English team, Simon Roberts, who will therefore miss the next round to remain in isolation as required by the guidelines imposed by the Federation and local English laws, where the team is based.

Roberts had tested negative during routine tests carried out at the beginning of the week but, after showing mild symptoms, he was subjected to a control swab again on Wednesday morning, resulting in a positive result. However, the team underlined that the Englishman feels well and that he will now begin his ten-day quarantine period, following national guidelines and supporting the team remotely. The responsibilities of the team principal will be temporarily divided Dave Redding (Team Manager) and Adam Carter (Chief Engineer of Vehicle Design), who will follow the team on site. The news comes after the confirmation of other positive cases within the team which had already occurred during the weekends of the Portuguese and Emilia Romagna Grands Prix, which made it necessary to isolate them and those who had come to close contact. Also in this case the team wanted to clarify how all the guidelines were followed, also finding staff in the factory who will be ready to leave to replace those currently positive in Turkey.
