F1 | Williams, Russell last at COTA: “Tyre overheating problems”

George Russell finished the United States Grand Prix in seventeenth position, essentially the last of those who reached the finish line given the retirements of Kubica, Magnussen and Vettel. The Briton had difficulty managing his FW42, especially with the tires overheating excessively. As already written, his teammate was forced to retire due to a problem with his Williams.

“This race was more complicated than normal – Russell said. I struggled with overheating of the tires, which made the car difficult to drive. We decided to make a second stop and were blue flagged for the rest of the race. Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton for winning his sixth world championship."

“The pace wasn't good, so we tried an alternative strategy – Kubica admitted. I struggled with grip, and the bumps were quite tricky to deal with with the high fuel load in the car. We suffered a hydraulic leak, so we were forced to retire. I can't wait for Brazil, it's a good track and we hope to get a better result."
