F1 | Williams: “Russell isn't going anywhere”
"I told Toto that George has a three-year contract"
di Jessica Cortellazzi31 July 2019
During the Hockenheim weekend Toto Wolff, interviewed about the renewal of Valtteri Bottas, admitted that the decision is difficult as he did not rule out that his seat could be taken by Esteban Ocon or George Russell. In fact, despite the lack of competitiveness of the car, the latter proved to be faster than his teammate, Robert Kubica:
“We are very happy with their development, the aim is to make them suitable for a place at Mercedes.”
Claire Williams, who reiterated her desire to retain the 21-year-old (on loan from Mercedes, ed.), does not share the same opinion:
“I told Toto that George has a three-year contract with us, he is absolutely in our future plans and is not going anywhere.”
