F1 | Williams, Russell confirmed in the line-up for the 2019 season
The Englishman will make his Formula 1 debut during the next championship
With a post published on its social channels, Williams confirmed the arrival of George Russell in the line-up for the 2019 season.
The Englishman, protégé of Toto Wolff and talent of the Mercedes Academy, will make his debut in Formula 1 as an official during the next championship and will take the place of Lance Stroll, who is headed to Force India in the seat currently occupied by Esteban Ocon.
A driver with enormous talent, Russell is currently tackling the Formula 2 championship, winning the direct challenge with Lando Norris, and 90% will arrive in Formula 1 as the reigning champion of the series.
It should be noted that the Englishman holds the role of "test driver" for Mercedes and during his career he won a British Formula 4 championship in 2014 and a GP3 world championship in 2017.
As regards the second seat, however, Robert Kubica seems to be the number 1 favorite for the assignment of the second seat, but watch out for Artem Markelov, especially if Williams' Russian sponsors were to push towards a choice of this type.
