F1 | Williams, Russell: “Alfa Romeo is very fit here, we can compete with Haas”

A bit of a complicated day for Williams, who returned a bit to the bottom of the standings at Silverstone. Russell finished in seventeenth position, but considering Vettel finished behind him he could have finished a little lower. To tell the truth, the gap from first position isn't even that high, just a second and a half, but the Briton confirms the difficulties expected on the FW43 before the British Grand Prix weekend. Bad Latifi, very last at 1.2 seconds behind his teammate.

“Today was difficult – Russell admitted. The pace was good, we expected this, but as a team this circuit doesn't suit the characteristics of our car unlike Hungary. The Alfa Romeos seem quite fast, so I think we will be competing with the Haas this weekend. We're trying to find the right compromise between downforce and speed: there are a lot of straights here but a lot of high-mileage corners, so you have to try to do the best without compromising the Copse-Maggots-Becketts series of corners. We're not where we want to be yet, but at least we have a chance to fight."

“Overall I had a lot of fun – Latifi said. Silverstone is my favorite circuit on the calendar, so I was looking forward to driving a Formula 1 car here. It's a lot of fun when it comes to speed. In FP1 we had some problems that slowed us down in the program, while in the afternoon some things were tried but they didn't work. The pace wasn't ideal, I also consumed too much fuel, much more than expected. Maybe we managed to understand the problem, but we have a lot of things to analyze tonight."
