F1 | Williams, Alex Albon: “We can do even more”

Thirteenth position in Austin for an unprecedented Alexander Albon in Austin. The Thai, who embodied the American spirit by dyeing his hair blonde, once again edged closer to the top of the leaderboard, despite his middle-of-the-road odds. Albon, however, is convinced that he can do even more this weekend, even if elements such as the wind could make his life difficult.

"The only representative session of the day also went surprisingly well, as we finished in thirteenth position. We can certainly do even more – revealed Albon – it's complicated because of the wind here and it will be even worse during the weekend, which is not good for our car. We will do our homework before FP3 to see what we can change to be more productive".

Nicholas Latifi, on the other hand, had to watch the first free practice session from the pits: it was he, in fact, who handed over his car to Logan Sargeant for FP1. The Canadian had thirty-five minutes to lap in the second session, before moving on to the Pirelli tests.

"It's probably the strangest Friday I've ever had as a Formula 1 driver. For the first time I missed FP1 and then there were the Pirelli tests in the second session. I took this day as a chance to get into the rhythm of this track. Tomorrow will be very different, though, because we will be back on our tyres. We will try to start with a bang in FP3 to maximize every lap".

It is Logan Sargeant's first time in a Formula 1 car. The American, a member of the Williams Driver Academy since 2021, is currently involved in Formula 2 with the Carlin Racing team.

"The goal for today was to learn as much as possible and I think I did a lot. It was very different from what I expected, but in a beautiful way. The way the car reacts compared to Formula 2 cars is very different. Very responsive in fast corners and so efficient when braking – explained Logan – there's a lot of potential, a lot to improve on, but I think it was a good start and I'm happy. A huge thank you to Williams and Dorilton Motor Sports for their support and this opportunity".
