F1 | Williams, Albon: “Competitive car compared to previous weekends”

Latifi, now in his last GP, hands over the wheel to Sergeant in FP1, who sets the fifteenth best time

F1 | Williams, Albon: “Competitive car compared to previous weekends”

It's a good Friday for Alex Albon, tenth in the first free practice session at Yes Marina. The name of the Thai slipped to sixteenth position in FP2, the most representative session from a qualifying perspective, but Alex still seems satisfied with the performance of the FW44, which has reached its final stages before making room for the 2023 car. A car that has allowed Williams to make itself still see himself among the top ten after years of darkness, and Albon hopes to be able to repeat himself in the last round of the season.

"I think we have a competitive car this weekend, compared to the last few races – explained Alex – the machine responds well to these temperatures and it seems that performance improves at night. The long runs aren't bad, I'd say it's a good Friday".

Nicholas Latifi takes to the track only in FP2, after leaving the wheel to Logan Sargeant. It is the Canadian's last weekend in Formula 1, after an adventure lasting three seasons in which Nicholas won the hearts of the fans despite his performances.

"I returned to the track for FP2, a normal session after missing this morning's. There was more grip than I expected, but I can still improve. Hopefully we can pick up the pace and make some steps forward tomorrow".

And Logan Sargeant is the one who should support Alex Albon from 2023: it is his fourth free practice session with Williams, after his debut in Austin. In her session at Yes Marina Logan clocked the fifteenth fastest time.

"I am very happy to have completed my fourth and final practice session with Williams for this season. I feel much more comfortable and confident with the car than on my first lap in Austin. I really thank everyone in the team for the support they have given me – said Logan – I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of the FW44 in a few days, in the tests for young drivers. Now I focus on the final sprint for the last races of the Formula 2 championship, to try to end this season in the best way".
