F1 | Virtual GP Baku, difficult Sunday for Leclerc and Fittipaldi

The seventh appointment with the Virtual GPs of the "We Race On" program, which replaced the races of the original 1 Formula 2020 calendar with virtual events, saw the Ferrari Driver Academy Hublot Esports team collect a third and a fourth place with David Tonizza and Enzo Bonito in the Pro Exhibition Race reserved for professional sim divers and experience a much more difficult Virtual Azerbaijan GP with Charles Leclerc and Enzo Fittipaldi.

Difficult race. In qualifying both Charles and Enzo struggled quite a bit in the narrow streets of Baku, with Fittipaldi who, as on the Interlagos track, the scene of his only appearance in virtual Formula 1 before today, managed to precede Leclerc in qualifying.

In fact, the Brazilian placed eighth, two positions ahead of the Monegasque. In the race, the first lap was a bit of a disaster with both standard bearers of the FDA Hublot Esports Team being involved in several accidents which immediately affected the outcome of their race. At the end of the first lap Fittipaldi was in fact 16th just ahead of Leclerc.

The two drivers tried to anticipate the first tire change in an attempt to recover positions but the accumulated delay still forced Charles and Enzo to fight at the back and the situation did not improve much after the second stop. Success went to George Russell with the Williams ahead of Alex Albon (Red Bull) and ad Esteban Gutierrez (Mercedes), while Enzo and Charles placed 13th and 14th respectively.

The next and final event is scheduled in seven days in the setting of the Canadian Grand Prix, on the Montreal track.
