F1 | Villeneuve harsh towards academies: "The financial contribution has become more important than talent"

In an interview given to the newspaper 'Le Journal de Montreal', Jacques Villeneuve commented on the situation regarding the academies and young drivers, underlining how the financial contribution has taken on a role of primary importance in the choice of drivers, especially as regards the preparation schools promoted by the big teams.

Here are the words of Jacques Villeneuve: “I have the impression that today financial contribution is more important than talent. I have been in the paddocks for several years and I am evaluating the progress of things, perhaps because I also have children. Parents often come to me and ask 'What should I do to help my child?' and my first response is 'Tell him to do something else.' It's a terrible answer, I know, but I just can't lie about certain things."
