F1 | Vettel ironic about the SF1000's performance at Spa: "With the rain we would have won the race"
"We were behind people who were slower than us in the last few races," said the German
The one that took place last Sunday in Spa, home of the Belgian Grand Prix, was a truly ordeal race for Ferrari. In fact, the Red team was unable to place either of the two cars in the points, with Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc having to settle for thirteenth and fourteenth place respectively.
The German, despite what happened in the Belgian event, has not lost his sense of humor: “If it had rained we wouldn't have been on the podium, but we would have won the race. I think on the one hand Spa is a power track and this year we had problems in that aspect, so we would have been left behind – underlined the Cavallino standard bearer. But on the other hand we were behind people slower than us in the last races, especially on Sunday, and I'm referring to Haas and Alfa Romeo".
Now waiting for Ferrari will be the double Italian round with trips to Monza and Mugello. Two races where the Red, at least on paper, should reveal the same limits shown among the ups and downs of Wallonia: "We have two important races for the team and that's what we need to focus on, but we have to be realistic: we can't expect miracles. This is the package and we are not where we want to be".
