F1, Vettel: “The public will give me great motivation”

Sebastian Vettel has admitted that the crowd's support will be an added motivation at the Formula 1 German Grand Prix where the German will chase his first victory at his home race.

“A lot of times people talk about pressure and what can slow you down, but in this case there are more positives. People are rooting for you and their support can sometimes give you those extra two tenths. It's fantastic to have this opportunity to race in my country. Now Germany has six riders, I can't wait to race."

Vettel also played down the team orders given to him in the closing laps of the Silverstone race to the detriment of his teammate Mark Webber. To those who asked him if he would have ignored them like the Australian Vettel did, he replied: “It always depends on the race situation. In the last GP we wouldn't have gained anything as a team, Mark wanted to race, improve his position, but I didn't want to let him pass and I tried to defend myself. On the one hand you want to race for yourself and on the other you try to do your best for the team. However, that story is now distant, I prefer to think about Free Practice 1".

At Red Bull, optimism reigns ahead of the Nurburgring race: “We have already seen the true level of performance during the season, I think we will have a good chance. At this stage everything seems OK and we are optimistic that we can continue like this. Last weekend unfortunately we were talking more about the rules than the race, but now everything should be clear from the start, we will focus on the races again, I can't wait."
