The Dutchman: "My father had the same problem"
According to the Dutchman, the pilot of the McLaren wants to compete in other categories besides formula 1 because he no longer has motivation.
Many praised it Fernando Alonso not only for wanting to continue in Formula 1, after the difficult years with McLaren but also for wanting to expand one's horizons by aiming for Triple Crown.
Max Verstappen he admitted that he was not interested in trying other categories:
“Usually the drivers who do something besides Formula 1 are the ones who are no longer winning”.
To the pilot of the Red Bull he was asked if one day he would like to follow in Alonso's footsteps, trying Indy or Le Mans:
“Maybe when I'm old and slow I'll do it. When you have the best car on the grid, everyone can win with that car. Any F1 driver could have won in Mercedes in the last four years. That's why you don't see Hamilton leaving to do these things because he doesn't need it, it's the same for me, I'm capable of fighting for victories, so my motivation is very high and I don't want to do Le Mans, IndyCar or whatever ”, added the 20-year-old.
“My father had the same problem, he was in F1 but he didn't win, and there's a moment when the motivation just disappears and it kills you inside.".
