F1 | Verstappen, message of love for Jos: “My father is also a friend and teacher”

Max Verstappen he is in his third year in Formula 1; starting from his debut in 2015 like rookie was at the center of attention for his incredible performances on the track, his aggression and his tenacity, however the Dutchman said he would never have made it to the circus and would have been at a much lower level if he hadn't had his father Jos Verstappen, which among other teams also ran for Benetton, Arrows and Minardi.

Max's story has always had something special, in fact there was so much media pressure on this boy. He arrived at the age of 17 with Toro Rosso and quickly broke several records, but in Formula 1 it is difficult to keep up with his rivals, however Verstappen has always had the support and precious advice of his father Jos on his side, who has repeatedly shown him the Street, explaining to him what he could improve on and what he could work on, obviously based on his experience.

Mobil 1 has prepared a video interview with Verstappen in which, in a long chat, he asked him to tell the public about the key moments in his career towards F1. The Dutchman confessed that feeling at ease brought him closer to IT world; of the motorsport: “I think I've found a place where I can enjoy what I do: I've tried playing football, riding a bike, but nothing is better than riding four wheels… so I thought it was the smartest way to spend my time,” Max said.

However, the path of Formula 1 was at home: “My family has also always been good at motorsport and I think this has made my path here much more natural,” he explained.

Also Chris Horner talked about the strange path of Max Verstappen: “It was quite unusual: karting, then just one year in F3, then we chose him for our young driver program and at just 16 he had his first test in an F1,” he recalled. “It was very unusual, because the rules have changed and now there is an age limit for drivers to get the super licence, so maybe this will never happen again,” the Red Bull team principal continued.

Max also took a dive into the past, among his fondest memories: “I knew that after school I had to go to the workshop to see my father prepare my engine and work on my chassis, he always tried to explain things to me, at least the basics to understand the behavior of the car ", commented. “So when I jumped from karting to F3 it was a big step, because thanks to my father's knowledge I had no difficulty understanding, I knew what it took to be faster and I understood how the car worked. And when I made the jump from F3 to F1 I didn't think it was a big leap to be honest,” he specified.

All this, of course, always thanks to Pope Jos: “I never noticed other drivers, only my father, he is my father, my friend and my teacher, Then I couldn't have called anyone else because he was all I needed“, he acknowledged. “He calls me Exit 2.0, it tells me what I can do better and I think it has made me who I am now,” he concluded.
