F1 | Vasseur on Raikkonen: “He doesn't race for money”
“Kimi is an active part of the team,” added the Team Principal
Interviewed by Canal Plus, Frederic Vasseur spoke about the choice to hire Kimi Raikkonen at the end of the 2018 season, underlining how the team Alfa Romeo has gained within its ranks an expert profile in line with the team's expectations.
Despite his identity card and a successful career, the Finn made himself completely available to the team, working closely not only with the engineers, but also with the track staff. A move that Vasseur he appreciated, given that his contribution is helping the team improve after the difficulties faced two seasons ago.
“Kimi doesn't need money and doesn't run for it,” said Frederic Vasseur. “He wants to have fun and show that he can still be competitive. He is aware of the fact that he will hardly be able to win any more Grand Prix, but he evidently takes pleasure in seeing the evolution of the team. It's the profile I was looking for as a manager."
“Raikkonen is an active part of the development and we wanted exactly this type of driver with us,” he added. “He has immense experience and has competed with big names in his career. For the Alfa Romeo Racing team it is a great advantage to have him on the team."
