F1 | Vasseur: “We cannot regularly exploit the potential of the single-seater”

“We have to understand.” The mantra that had accompanied the Binotto management returns to the fore also in the new branded course Frederic Vasseur. The French manager, who has become the new team principal of Ferrari taking the place of the Italian-Swiss engineer, he underlined the difficulties on the part of the little horse's team in being able to understand the behavior of the latest addition to Maranello. The 2023 season opened in the worst possible way for the Red team, which in Bahrain finished the race with only Carlos Sainz, while in Saudi Arabia it did not go beyond fifth place with the Spaniard and sixth with Charles Leclerc.

Vasseur, commenting on the critical issues of the SF-23, admitted that before bringing updates that could allow the car to improve performance they must analyze the reasons that influence its reality.

“Our problem is that we cannot regularly exploit the potential of the single-seater,” Vasseur told Auto Motor und Sport. “First we need to understand how we can optimize our package. Only then can there be the development phases."

Interviewed by AS, Vasseur himself has a technical director contrary to what was thought. Furthermore, the Frenchman admitted that there is a department, which he did not mention, which needs to be improved: “Enrico Cardile, head of the chassis; and Enrico Gualtieri, head of engine, is the same division as Mercedes or Renault. There is a department that needs improvement, but I keep it to myself."
