F1 | An old insurance company blocks Kubica's return, but his father assures: "he will race for Williams"

According to what was declared by Auto Motor Und Sport, Robert Kubica's official status in Williams would be linked to a small bureaucratic quibble inherent to his previous insurance in Formula One. In 2011, in fact, the Pole received a large sum relating to the bad accident at the Andora Rally, a factor which is now blocking negotiations with the Grove team. The amount of the sum referred to the serious hand accident, a defection which had effectively ousted Kubica from the world of Formula One.

Once the contract with Williams is closed, Robert would have to return the entire amount to the insurance company and this would significantly slow down the negotiations with Paddy Lowe and Claire Williams. In the meantime, speaking to the Newsweekowi website, Robert's father commented on his son's possible return to Formula One, underlining how the Pole is ready for this new adventure. According to Artur Kubica, Robert will be as fast as six years ago, but humanly he will not be the same driver who raced with BMW and Renault.

Here are the father's words: “Some say he should never have driven rallies. At BMW he was contractually prohibited, but at Renault the matter was slightly different. In order to have him on the team they accepted this possibility. I believe that in the end he will go to Williams and go as fast as six years ago. Humanly, however, he will not be the same rider and I am quite certain about this."
