F1 | Official: Silverstone will host the Sprint Race
“We are thrilled that Silverstone fans will be the first to experience the sprint qualifying format,” admitted Stuart Pringle
The Silverstone track will host the first Sprint Race, the big news that will characterize the 2021 Formula One World Championship. In addition to the track hosting the British Grand Prix, two other races are scheduled for Saturday but the locations have not yet been made official.
"We are incredibly excited that Silverstone fans will be the first to experience the Formula 1 sprint qualifying format at this year's British Grand Prix – declared Stuart Pringle, managing director of Silverstone – It's been years since we've seen such a major program disrupt the sport and I appreciate the continued efforts made by Formula 1 and the FIA to improve on-track entertainment, giving our spectators even more anticipation for this July. The Friday and Saturday crowds at Silverstone are arguably the largest on the F1 calendar and, after 2020's lack of live events, this year will be no exception. As we have almost sold out of tickets for Sunday, Saturday now presents a great opportunity for fans to see a Formula 1 race at Silverstone this summer".
