F1 | The return of the Portuguese GP to the calendar is official

All that was missing was the official announcement that arrived this morning: the Portuguese GP will fill the free slot on the calendar. The Algarve race will take place on the weekend of 30 April-2 May and will be the third race of the 2021 Formula One World Championship which, we remind you, will start on 28 March with the Sakhir event (Bahrain GP).

"We are thrilled to announce that Formula 1 will race at Portimao again following the huge success of last year's race – declared Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1 – We want to thank the promoter and the Portuguese government for their hard work and dedication in bringing us to this point. We are confident and excited about our 2021 season, having demonstrated last year that we could deliver 17 races safely and bring our millions of fans exciting racing during a difficult time. We hope to welcome fans back to Portimao this season in a safe manner and are working with the promoter on the details of that plan".
