F1 | Tsunoda, goal for points at Spa-Francorchamps
Tsunoda optimistic for the next round in Belgium
Strengthened by the eighth position achieved in the last Hungarian Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda will be looking for other important points in the next world event scheduled for the Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium. On the splendid facility located in the Ardennes, the Japanese will try not only to confirm the great steps forward of the last month and a half, but also to give an important placing to AlphaTauri, which, we remember, is currently fighting with Alpine and Aston Martin for fifth place in the constructors' championship.
“Overall, the first half of the season was really interesting,” declared the Japanese pilot. “A lot of things were completely unexpected, it wasn't quite how I imagined it before I started. There have been many ups and downs. At times my performance was hit and miss. But overall I'm quite satisfied, because I managed to score points, helping Scuderia AlphaTauri to be the only team so far to score points at every race this year. Now that the second part of the season begins, we must continue like this.
“After Hungary, I took a trip to Milton Keynes to correlate the Hungaroring data with the simulator and then we also studied the next three tracks,” he added. “Then I went to Italy and took advantage of the free time to set up my new home, which is very close to the Faenza factory. I really needed a break and I enjoyed it.
“Starting again from Spa is fantastic, I have excellent memories of this track. Last year in Formula 2 I won the Feature Race starting from pole position and the year before, in Formula 3, I achieved my first podium in the category. I like the track and I can't wait to tackle it for the first time in a Formula 1 car: it will be a particularly interesting experience, especially at Eau Rouge!”, he concluded.
