F1 | Trulli: “Giovinazzi's career was just the beginning of a promising career”

The great test of Antonio Giovinazzi in Australia it has not left fans and professionals indifferent. Among them the former pilot Jarno Trulli it was one of the happiest.

The last Italian Formula 1 driver had his say in a recent interview with Gazzetta dello Sport: “Antonio did an excellent job in Australia – he said – a good performance was not so obvious because he had to take over a car all over 'last moment".

“But he managed to stay only a tenth behind his more experienced teammate and even beat him in the first segment of qualifying. He really made a great impression on me, confirmed in the race where he proved to be very mature and finished in a good twelfth place."

For the young Italian it will only be the first step of something much bigger: “Melbourne was just the beginning of a promising career in Formula 1. Now I hope that one day he will have the chance to not only do single races but you race for a full season."

Trulli, like many others, also reiterated his great surprise at having seen the Ferrari victorious right from the first outing: "I had my doubts and I thought that Mercedes hadn't revealed all its cards – he said – but Australia showed that we can look forward to a strong Ferrari".

This, in perspective, is great news for the circus: “Proving that Ferrari can still win races was an important thing, not just for the fans. I can say that we will have a very exciting world championship."
