F1 | Toro Rosso, Tost: “The collaboration with Honda is helping us to improve”

In an interview with Racer, Franz Tost spoke about the collaboration between Toro Rosso and Honda in anticipation of the 2018 season, underlining how exclusivity is a factor of vital importance in the design of the new single-seater.

The Austrian praised the work of the Japanese, specifying that there is dialogue between Faenza and the Japanese engineer on the installation of the power train inside the chassis. An exclusive supply is something relatively new for Toro Rosso, given that with both Renault and Ferrari it has always been the Italian Scuderia that has had to adapt to the conditions of the engine manufacturer. With Honda, however, a more direct dialogue is possible and according to Tost this factor will help the team put together an excellent package for 2018.

Here are Franz Tost's statements: “Honda's arrival within the team has changed a lot and we look forward to working with them in the long term as well. It all started last December and I must say that the first exchanges were very positive. I am convinced that they will come with a robust and powerful engine. Being their only partner is an advantage since we have already discussed the integration of the power unit with the chassis. We don't have to adapt our car to external conditions. We can do what we want and this is a very encouraging factor for next season."
