F1 | Toro Rosso, Tost's point: "The Honda engine is ok, we need to improve the car"

Franz tost promotes the first season in collaboration with Honda. Interviewed by racer.com, the Toro Rosso team principal said he was satisfied with the work done by the Japanese company, fresh from a terrible three-year period with McLaren: “From my point of view, there was no fear (before 2018, ed.), because for me Honda was already much better than people thought last year; fortunately I was right when I said to expect a pretty good season with Honda" – said Tost. “Obviously we knew it wouldn't be easy with all the research and development to do. But in the end, as far as Honda is concerned, we achieved our objectives. The problems we currently have do not concern the power, but the car".

In short, in view of 2019 the Faenza team will focus its concentration on the 'pure' performance of the single-seater: "We need to improve the performance of the car. We are not so happy with the aerodynamic side and we also need to do something from a mechanical point of view: we know this and I hope we will go in the right direction. Furthermore, we need to better understand tires and their management. These will be the main themes for next season." – concluded Tost.
