F1 | Toro Rosso, Hartley: “My future? I also have a contract for 2019, you should ask Red Bull"
"I was only questioned after three races," he added
Brendon Hartley's experience in Formula 1 has not been exciting so far. The New Zealander, who arrived in the great Circus at the end of last season in that triple exchange with Gasly and Kvyat for a seat, was confirmed permanently for 2018, without however achieving great results and not receiving great support within the paddock. There have been many rumors in recent months, but Hartley, with a contract for 2019 as well, holds his own and doesn't want to give up, despite Alexander Albon, a Formula 2 driver who could steal his place despite a contract already signed with Nissan Formula E. This detail keeps alive the last hopes for the former Porsche, with which he also won two WEC titles and a 24 Hours of Le Mans, so we are not talking about just anyone, who however only has 2 points to his credit in Formula 1 out of 21 races held, very few.
“As for me, I have a contract for next year too, so if you have to ask something, talk to someone at Red Bull – Hartley told Ad Autosport. My position on the team was called into question after three races this year, which put me in a pretty crappy situation. I feel like I'm stronger thanks to this too, but I don't show it. My attitude definitely changed a bit, I managed myself more and thought more about myself. In an ideal world, I would have full support given my contract, but it's Formula 1 so that's not always the case. It's not really ideal to answer after three games about your future, especially after signing a long-term contract, it's not easy for anyone. But I had to face this situation, and I think I handled it well. I also felt good in the car, despite the lack of points, I would have liked to score more. In certain situations I have been unlucky, but in normal conditions I have shown that I can do my job at my best. I have learned a lot so far in Formula 1, I am a stronger person."
