F1 | Toro Rosso, Hartley: “Happy and excited for today's result”

Saturday worth remembering for Toro Rosso and Honda, who placed Hartley in sixth place and Gasly in seventh in the Japanese engine manufacturer's home Grand Prix. An extraordinary result and it pays off the enormous efforts this year. For the New Zealander, an unexpected result and never so high since he has been in Formula 1, while the Frenchman managed to recover after losing part of his work yesterday in FP2.

“I'm so happy, I was also happy on the return lap, I was even a little excited – Hartley said. Normally I don't indulge in feelings, but it was the accumulation of all the efforts I put in and the difficulties I had during the season. It was nice, today everything worked. The session was complicated due to bad weather, but the team acted very well with the strategy as we entered the track at the right time. To get sixth place on the grid in front of all the Honda fans is fantastic. Now we have to score points, but I'm still enjoying the moment."

“Today was a fantastic result – Gasly admitted: sixth and seventh place for Honda in Suzuka is excellent, even compared to the other results obtained this season. I'm really happy for the team: it's probably the best qualifying since the beginning of the year, and to do it in Japan is special. In Suzuka it is difficult to overtake, so we need to focus on the start of the race. Brendon and I both felt good in the car all weekend, so we will continue to push because we have some fast cars around us. We will have to fight hard, but we hope to start well enough to give Romain some trouble in front of us. We have to stay focused and try to get the best result possible."
