F1 | Toro Rosso, Gelael: “Incredible to drive a Formula One car”

Seventy-eight laps for Sean Gelael on the first day of in-season testing on the Sakhir track. The Indonesian driver familiarized himself with all the systems of the STR12, completing a series of sessions useful for the development of the single-seater. A very positive day completed without errors and with a good wealth of information to exploit for the next Russian Grand Prix, the fourth round of the 2017 Formula One World Championship. Gelael will return to the car this summer, precisely for the next in-season tests on the Hungaroring track.

Here are the words of Sean Gelael: “This is a day I will never forget: driving a Formula 1 car is every driver's dream and doing it with Scuderia Toro Rosso makes everything even more special. What an incredible feeling. This year's car is a beast, very fast! During the session I progressively got used to it and we definitely made some progress throughout the day. I did many laps, thus becoming familiar with the single-seater. Overall, power and grip are fantastic: compared to the Formula 2 car I drive, braking grip and curb hop are the biggest differences I noticed. Honestly, it's really nice to drive and I would like to thank everyone who made this possible! I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of the STR12 in a few months, testing in Hungary."
