F1 | Toro Rosso, Gasly: “Positive start to the weekend”

The Italian team concluded the first day of free practice on the circuit Paul ricard with the tenth time of Pierre Gasly and the fifteenth of Brendon Hartley.

Pierre Gasly: “Racing in France for my home race, especially in my first full Formula 1 season, is fantastic! The start of the weekend was very positive: in the first session I finished eighth, while in the second I was tenth, so we are reasonably fast. I think we still have some performances under our belt, we have to work well and try to keep up for tomorrow. Today the conditions were difficult with those changes in wind direction between sessions it was difficult to find the right set-up. I think we've found the right balance and hopefully we can get a good result in qualifying, it would be really great in my home race.".

Brendon Hartley: “For me it was a disappointing way to end the first day of testing here in Le Castellet: something happened with the power unit in the last minutes of FP2. I don't know the details yet, but we had to stop the session. Now the team must investigate and try to discover the cause of the problem. However, I think it was a relatively normal day before this episode. The pace of both cars was good and Pierre put in some competitive laps on the softer compounds in FP2. The car has potential and we will work hard overnight to maximize it for tomorrow.".
