The Russian wasn't even able to get through Q1, but his day was marked by the engine problem he had in FP3, and this forced him to change the power unit with one already used.

I will push as much as possible, there will be 61 long laps where anything can happen, so it will be important to have a clean race and fight until the end, hoping to be able to score points for the team."

“I can't be satisfied with my qualifying, the last lap was terrible and I knew that once I crossed the finish line, I would have no chance of progressing to Q2 – Kvyat admitted. I found a lot of traffic and it was a shame, because it cost me a lot of time. And then that little error with the motor switch, in the first sector, didn't help me. On a track like this, where every lap counts, not having lapped in the third free practice session hurt us. When I went on track for Q1 I had no pace or feeling with the car. For tomorrow I expect a tough race, but it could be quite unpredictable and this could also work in our favor, so we could also have the opportunity to score points."
