F1 | Toro Rosso, Gasly: “We have to take the positive aspects”

The Italian team concluded the qualifications with twelfth place Pierre Gasly. He didn't get on the track Brendon Hartley, protagonist of a bad accident, fortunately without consequences.

Pierre Gasly: “I'm quite happy to get into Q2 and finish in P12. The important thing was to recover some performance after the last two weekends in China and Baku, so I think there are some positives to take from today. We knew it would be a little more complicated here, because we saw some teams with big updates, but for us the most important thing was to understand our package and I think we got some good answers. We still have to analyze our performances but, overall, we are quite satisfied. Things went well this weekend, in FP1 and FP3 we were in the top 10 and in qualifying we were close, it's encouraging to see that we're getting back into the fight. The race will be long and we know that tire choice and strategy can make the difference. Tomorrow we will be free to choose which compounds we start the race with, so I think it's a good position to start from.".

Brendon Hartley: “It was a great blow! Usually, we go slightly over the curb entering Turn 9, but this time I went a centimeter or two wider, pinching the dirty area and the car spun quickly. This morning I felt the car was good, but at the end of the session I still hadn't had a clean run, so the lap time didn't show the real pace we had. I'll try to stay positive: I'll have a good sleep and I'll come back refreshed tomorrow, anything can happen. Last year the team started from the back of the grid and scored points, so that must be the target for tomorrow.".
