F1 | Toro Rosso, Gasly: “We are getting closer to the top ten, but we need a better balance”
Hartley: "We weren't as competitive as we would have liked"
Speaking to the official Toro Rosso website, Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley analyzed Friday's free practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix. After an initial run-in session, the Faenza team made some improvements in the setup in FP2 which allowed Gasly to achieve 12th place. Hartley is definitely in more difficulty.
PIERRE GASLY
FP1: 15th, 1:10.934 (+1.923) – 30 laps
FP2: 12th, 1:10.330 (+1.484) – 44 laps
“I love racing on this circuit, it was fantastic to drive here for the second time. It was a productive day of testing. We have made some improvements from FP1 to FP2. Overall, I think we made some effective changes in the setup, but we still need to work overnight to find a better balance for tomorrow. I think we are getting closer to the top ten: hopefully, with a good job tonight, we can close the gap tomorrow. I think we have a chance to do well – we just need to put everything together, which will be the main focus tonight.".
BRENDON HARTLEY
FP1: 18th, 1:11.176 (+2.165) – 32 laps
FP2: 19th, 1 10.734 (+1.888) – 46 laps
“It's great to be back in Interlagos! I would say we weren't as competitive as we would have liked, but today we struggled with the balance of the car. There will be some work to do with the engineers during the night. We hope to still find some performance for tomorrow".
