F1 | Todt: “The top teams spend too much and this deprives fans of the reliability factor”

Jean Todt believes that the level of car reliability in Formula One is too high. According to the President of the International Federation, in fact, the teams have managed to reach a manufacturing level of the components that is too high and this is due to the lot of money that revolves around the Circus.

Referring to Lewis Hamilton, the former Ferrari underlined the enormous talent of the English driver, while specifying how his ride was helped by an absolutely extraordinary car. The common objective with Liberty Media must absolutely be the return of the "reliability" factor, introducing simpler units.

Here are the words of Jean Todt: “Lewis made no mistakes and was perfect for most of the season, but all of this was possible thanks to an amazing car. His car was competitive throughout the season, proving to be strong in terms of performance and reliability. Even though Mercedes wasn't always the fastest on the track, Lewis managed to score in every race of the championship. What do I mean by that? That the cars are too reliable."

“The top teams can count on exaggerated reliability and this has deprived fans of a very important factor in racing. Ferrari and Mercedes have proven to be too reliable and this has been possible thanks to the money, the tests and all the simulators they use for the development of the car. Formula One and sport don't need all this." he added.
