F1 | Hungary Test, Leclerc: “A fantastic experience”

Mogyorod – Ninety-eight laps at the wheel of the SF70H, in the infernal heat of the Hungaroring, and a final time of 1'17”746, achieved with Soft tyres, which corresponds to the best overall performance of the day. But for Charles Leclerc, Ferrari Drivers Academy driver and current leader of the F2 championship, the response of the stopwatch is certainly not the most important thing of this day.

"Driving a Ferrari – comments the 19 year old from Monaco – it's never an experience 'normal'. I felt like it was my first time driving a race car. It is a great honor that has been granted to me, and I wholeheartedly thank Ferrari for this opportunity. I'm happy with the work I've done and I hope the team is too. Riding the SF70H gave me fantastic sensations, for me coming from F2 it's another world, in all aspects. It was the first time I drove an F1 with wide tires and this downforce, it was an incredible feeling. The work in the pits also made me grow: Ferrari has the best engineers in the world and I had a great time with them. The best time is a satisfaction, but in the tests it has a relative importance. I can go on holiday happy, but now I want to focus on the second part of the F2 season. Formula 1 is just a dream for now. I still have to work, I know: one step at a time".

Tomorrow, August 2, testing will continue with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.
