“Maybe only ten are enough,” continued the German
In a chat given to the German press, Joachim Stuck analyzed the period of pause that the world of formula 1, underlining how the emergency linked to the spread of Coronavirus could offer great possibilities to the Circus.
According to the former pilot, the health emergency could push the formula 1 to change the format of the championship, launching something different and more appealing to fans. A change dictated by the situation, but which could prove successful for the future of the category.
“Formula 1 really needs 22 races? ", said the German. “Maybe just ten are enough with two appointments every weekend. We could also evaluate a championship similar to Formula E, with a calendar that runs from autumn to spring."
On the industry and sponsors he added: “First of all we have to overcome this crisis and see how resilient the sponsors are. Can small teams survive? That's the question."
